Our Story
Our story began when Ed and his life partner were enjoying life in their 2-story townhome in the Tampa Bay area. Out of the blue, Ed's sweetheart suffered a major hemorrhagic stroke in 2023 which left her with severe physical limitations. Instantly, Ed was forced into an unfamiliar world feeling lost, not knowing which way to turn for help. Figuring out how to care for her and how to equip their home in a way that would allow her to return to their sanctuary became Priority One.
Experiencing unreturned calls, overpriced quotes, and a lack of overall assistance in their time of need, Ed immediately felt compelled to keep others from going through the same awful trauma as well. Following that passion, Ed teamed up with his friend and construction partner Dave Adams of Tam Bay Construction, and Tam Bay ADA Renovations was born.
Their construction backgrounds; combined with new personal needs led them to discover that often the primary accessibility tool found to be most critical for staying in place is a home lift.

Meet Our Team
Dave Adams GC, BSc, CAPS
Dave Adams is the CEO and Vice-President of Tam Bay ADA Renovations and Tam Bay Construction, Inc., located in Brandon Florida. Tam Bay ADA Renovations is part of the Tam Bay group of companies which also includes Tam Bay Commercial (Real Estate). Dave is also the General Manager of Restoration 1 of Tampa Bay. Dave graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management and Computer Science. He also earned an Associate’s Degree in Digital Electronics from the Florida State College of Jacksonville. Dave has 20 plus years of experience in Building Control systems and extensive home improvement and construction experience. He holds a General Contractors License (GC 1514699), a Mold Remediation License (MRSR 2642) in Florida and is a LEED Accredited Professional with the US Green Building Council. Tam Bay ADA Renovations is a member of the NAHB and is an approved CAPS certified provider. Tam Bay ADA Renovations is a standing member of the Central Hillsborough Chamber of Commerce as well as a member of a local BNI chapter.
Ed Spooner, HHA
Ed Spooner is the Project Manager and Director of Marketing for Tam Bay ADA Renovations, a subsidiary of Tam Bay Construction, Inc., located in Brandon Florida, and part of the Tam Bay group of companies which include Tam Bay Commercial (Real Estate). Ed is a graduate of Western University, in London Ontario. His family moved to Florida in 1978. Since his family includes a long line of contractors and Real Estate investors, Ed has decades of experience in interior design sales, construction, and home improvements. Ed has also been a Licensed Commercial Real Estate Broker in Florida since 2006. The vision of Tam Bay ADA Renovations was born out of a personal need and desire to find practical and affordable mobility equipment for a loved one who experienced a massive hemorrhagic stroke in 2023. Ed has studied the CAPS certification training from the NAHB (National Association of Home Builders). Ed is certified in Florida as a Home Health Care Aid (HHA). His CEU Certifications include courses entitled “Death & Dying”, “Alzheimer’s Disease”, and “Preventing Falls”. He is also a certified through the American Heart Association in CPR, BLS (Basic Life Support) and AED. Ed is also a supporter of One Blood and has donated over 5 gallons of blood over the last 15 years.

From the start of the project, to the very end, we are beyond happy with our Galaxy lift. After finding a photo on Pinterest, was promptly put in touch with TamBay ADA, the dealer for our area. Ed Spooner, the project manager answered all our questions, proposed various options and followed through - sent info when he said he would, arrived for site inspection again when he said he would. As we live on an island only accessible by boat, arrangements had to be a bit different to get items across by barge. Everything went well. Final installation took place last week and our groceries have “lift off”!! Installers, admin and finance staff, also a pleasure to deal with. Thank you.
